Description : Mental discomfort, professional isolation, and limited mental health services led to significant burnout and turnover in rural elderly care. In this mixed-methods study, we used quantitative data from a home survey of 687 older persons in Shaanxi Province, China, and qualitative interviews with frontline rural care providers. Logistic regression, linear regression, and thematic analysis are used to explore how community care services affect caregiver mental health. In logistic regression, daily care services showed a significant effect on self-assessed mental health, especially among respondents living in rural areas (β = 1.064, p < 0.05). However, the effect was different for ADL impairment and chronic disease.
